Mery Santos, She is the current President for the International Women Coffee Alliance (IWCA) a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, with the mission to: “empower women in the international coffee community to achieve meaningful and sustainable lives; and to encourage and recognize the participation of women in all aspects of the coffee industry”. In 2005, As a volunteer for the USAID “Farmer to Farmer” program, she spent some time in Guatemala where she decided to dedicate her career to the industry and utilize her Sales & Marketing skills to help women coffee farmers’ position their coffee in the US Market.
She just launched her own specialty coffee roasting business under the Sedna Coffee Company name last September. Her goal is to be able to source and roast coffee from “women producers” and to promote and market the “Women’s Care Certified” norms and standards at the consumer level in the coffee supply chain.
She is an active member of the SCAA (Specialty Coffee Association of America) and in her spare time, she volunteers to several non-profits organizations in her own community of Sacramento, california.
